前回とても好評だった「韓国料理教室」の第二弾。６月１８日（土）野幌公民館において講師に前回と同じくチェ・チョンア先生を迎えて、参加者３６名で行われました。どのメニューもおいしくて、第三弾を・・・という声も出た程、大盛況だった「韓国料理教室」でした。

「韓国料理教室」に参加して
　今回、初めて参加させて頂きました。
　昨年、韓流ブームの中で、初めて韓国に行って来ました。その時に、本場の韓国料理というので辛いのではないかと心配しましたが、食べてみるとおいしくて、今まで韓国料理は赤くて辛いと思っていたのが間違いだと気付きました。旅行中の４日間、どれを食べてもおいしくて、辛いものが食べられるようになりました。最後は、キムチ・ゴマ油・のりなどを沢山買って来ました。
　日本に帰ってから、韓国で食べた料理を作ってみたいと思い、テレビや料理のレシピを探しました。それで作ってみると、プルコギ・ビビンパ・タッカルビも何かが足りない、何かが違うと、レシピを替えて作ってもみましたが、満足できませんでした。
　そんな時に、ハングル講座でチェ先生から「韓国料理教室」があると教えられ申し込みましたが、その場で「抽選になります」と言うので、諦めていました。後日、「参加できます」と言われたので、とても楽しみにしていました。
　当日は、６人位のグループで協力しながら料理を作っていくうちに、仲良く会話をしていました。味見をしながら料理を作るのも又楽しくて、女性は年令に関係なく親しくなれるものだと思いました。
　試食が始まり食べてみると、おいしい！ニンニク・ゴマ油が交錯している。
　この参加で、調味料の粉唐がらし・ゴマ油・コチュザン・味噌も、韓国風がおいしいと分かりました。
　本当に楽しい経験でした。機会があれば、また参加したいです。ありがとうございました。

The second Korean Cooking Class was held by popular demand on June 18th at the Nopporo Kominkan. Lecturer Ms. Choi Jung Ah taught 36 people. All of the dishes were very yummy! The class was a great success and there have been many requests for a third class. We really appreciate Ms. Jung Ah Choi and all of the staff support involved.

Attending Korean Cooking Class

This was my first Korean cooking class. Last year, I visited Korea for the first time, inspired by the Korean boom. While in Seoul, I ate many Korean dishes which were all extremely delicious. This culinary experience changed my mind about Korean dishes, which until then I thought were all red in color and too hot. I was completely wrong. I was impressed with the variety in tastes and went home laden with loads of Kimchi (Korean pickles), sesame oil and seasoned laver (dried laver seaweed). Since returning to Japan, I have tried to cook Korean dishes for myself occasionally, but never have been able to achieve the taste I experienced in Korea.

But one day in my Korean language class the instructor, Ms. Choi Jung, told me about a Korean cooking class that would soon be held. I applied for the class but with so many applicants, a drawing was held to determine who could enroll. Fortunately, I was accepted!

In the class my group consisted of six persons. We worked together and shared friendly conversation. Tasting and cooking together was very fun and I saw that women could make friends across age boundaries.

At last, our dishes were done, and oh-so-yummy! The garlic and sesame oil harmonized beautifully. It was a really wonderful experience. I hope I will be able to attend the next class. Thank you very much.

　6月21日の夏至の日に、片山邸でチェロとピアノのキャンドルナイトコンサートを開催しました。４０数名の方々が参加され、素敵な夜を過ごしました。会場を提供下さいました片山先生に感謝申しあげます。

Dim candle light was the backdrop for a charming night of piano and cello sounds emanating from the Katayama house on Summer Solstice.

Forty-three people were captivated by the classical sounds. Many thanks to Dr. Katayama and his family, who graciously let us use their house for the concert. Concert proceeds were 13,266 yen; charity bazaar 3,050 yen. The combined total will be used to send old clothes to Thailand.

What a gorgeous night! I was intoxicated by the harmony of the international duo, moved to tears by the rendition of "My Old Hometown, "hugged by old friends as we talked and talked over coffee. Two hours passed once the lights were turned out. A big, brilliant party cake was formed by lots of candles. How wonderful! How beautiful! The flare of the candles made me positive, assertive and active! What should I do? I do what I can do, now! (Ms. Mutsuko Kakizaki)

東国大学留学生受け入れの感想
　韓国東国大学から２泊３日の日程で、金民晶（Ｋｉｍ　Ｍｉｎ−Ｊｅｏｎｇ）さんが我が家にホームステイしました。東国大学留学生の受け入れは今回が２度目で、気持ちに少し余裕を持って民晶さんを迎えることができました。
　彼女は現在大学３年生で新聞放送学科を専攻し、将来はジャーナリスト志望との事。海外旅行経験も豊富で以前私が訪れたことのあるカナダの地域は、彼女が訪れたのと同じ州であること、同じ場所であることが分かり、共通した話題に親近感を抱きました。また、彼女のすばらしい英語の能力に戸惑いを感じつつ、夜遅くまで話が弾みました。大学のお別れパーティでの一言コメントには、日本語で夫と私にホームステイのお礼を述べ、私たちの愛猫の「ハナとジローにもよろしく伝えてください」との言葉に、民晶さんの知的で優しい人柄を感じ、改めてホストファミリー冥利に尽きると思いました。何時の日か民晶さんがジャーナリストとして活躍している姿を思い浮かべ、今度私が韓国を訪れたときにトマンナブジダ(また会いましょう)　（小笠原　律子さん）

Homestay Committee Update

Homestay Impressions

We hosted Ms. Kim Min-Jeong, a Dongguk University Student from Korea. As this acceptance was our second experience, we welcomed her with a relaxed feeling. She is in her junior year and is majoring in Broadcast Journalism / Media. She wants to be a journalist in the future. She has been abroad many times. As we talked, we noticed that we have experienced being in the same city in Canada. What a coincidence! We felt a close kinship as we had many similar memories.

Ms. Kim speaks English fluently, and we had lively conversation. At the farewell party at Sapporo Gakuen University, she expressed her thanks to us in Japanese. In addition, she said, “Give my regards to your pet cats Hana and Jiro.” We deeply felt her sweet heart with her words. We were lucky to have her as our homestay guest! I hope that someday we will visit Korea and meet with her again when she is Ms. Kim, the journalist. (Ms. Ritsuko Ogasawara)

The Messages From Students from Beifa Women's College

I am Park Kyung Yun, a trainee who came to Asaigakuen University from Beifa women's college. I stayed at Fukuda's during the training period. I could study cultures and a way of life in Japan. I had a chance to eat Hokkaido's tradional dish Genghis Khan and go to a shrine where I wanted to visit. The Fukuda's warmly welcomed me and I felt kindliness. I hope I will have an opportunity to come here. I learned and felt the culture, thank you very much. (Ms. Park Kyung Yun)

I am Choi Suk Kyung. The first impression I got when I first came here was there is much green and houses and nature are very beautiful. And you have many festivals to enjoy which was envious because in Korea we don'thave this many festivities. I wanted to go see the snow festivals but it is a pity I couldn't while I was staying in summer. タイ支援のためのフリーマーケット参加
　先回号でお知らせしましたが、タイへの支援のための資金集めとして、フリーマーケットに参加します。皆さんのおうちにある不要品をご寄付下さい。国際センターのご厚意により、寄付品を８月12〜19日までの間、センター手前の物置に持ち込んでもいいことになりました。その場合、「エシアバザー用」と明記し、売れ残ってごみにだす場合のために、江別市指定のごみ袋を添付して下さい。当日会場に持ち込んでも結構です。大型の物品についてはご相談下さい。当日のお手伝いも募集いたします。服は適切なものを選んでタイに送ります。輸送費をこのフリーマーケットで捻出したいと考えておりますが、皆様からの資金のご寄付も歓迎致します。ご協力よろしくお願い致します。

こんにちわ、皆さん
タイへの古着の寄付について。
　2004年末にスマトラ諸島を襲った大地震と津波以来、私たちは災害者達への寄付をお願いし、集まった寄付金を被害を被った女性や子供達を支援するタイ 女性基金に送りました。この女性基金と活動を共にするにつれこの団体が、今回の津波被害の救援活動のみならず他にも様々な活動にかかわっていることを知 りました。そのうちの一つにタイ北部の山岳地に住む民族の子供達を支援する活動があります。
彼らの村はダム工事によって移動を余儀なくされましたが新しい土地は農業に適さず大人達は職を求めてその地を離れるようになりその地に残された子供達はひどい状況に追い込まれています。女性基金は15名の子供達 に旧校舎を利用した住居や食べ物、必需品を支援していますがまだまだ足りません。そこで我々に8歳から15歳位の子供達に合う服の寄付を呼びかけてきました。また虐待から逃れて来た女性や子供達に新しい人生の始めるための支援活動も行っているそうで、この基金が提案しているのは寄付された古着を彼らに 街頭で売ってもらいそこで得た利益で自活していけるよう支援する活動です。
このような活動に関心をしめされ同時に家にある古着を片付けたいと思っている方々は是非寄付をお願いいたします。
又、お心に留めておいていただきたいのが送料で20キロの荷物につき約8,000円かかります。そこで送料などの募金も大歓迎です。皆様のご協力に心よ り感謝しています。

Flea Market to Aid Thais in Need

As we mentioned in the prior issue, we will have a shop at the flea market this month which will provide donations for those in need of assistance in Thailand. If you would like to participate, please bring your recycled goods (clothes, books, housewares and so on) to the Ebetsu International Center from August 12th to 19th. Please indicate “For ECIEA” on a note on your goods and enclose official city garbage bags to be used in the event your items remain unsold. You can also bring goods directly to the market on the day of the event, August 21st, from 9:00a.m.

We are now actively recruiting staff volunteers to help with the sale of the goods. We will be collecting children’s clothing and raising money to send specific necessary items to Thailand. We will graciously accept your financial support as well.

Message from Wanida
 Hello everyone
 About donating old clothes to Thailand.
 Since the massive earthquake and tsunami disaster, which occurred along the island of Sumatra at the end of 2004. The Thai community here in Hokkaido have asked for donations to help the victims. We send the money to the Foundation for Women to help women and children who are affected by the disaster.
 Since we have been working with the Foundation for Women, we acknowledge that there are many other projects that this organization has been working on too, besides the tsunami disaster relief project.  One other project is to help the hill tribe children in the north of Thailand whose villages have been moved to the lowlands because a dam has been built.  The new land is not good enough for agriculture. Many adults have to leave the village to look for jobs elsewhere.  Thus their children are left behind in the village to take care of themselves.  The conditions are very bad for such children.  The Foundation for Women is helping 15 children by providing shelter (using the old school building), food, and other necessities.  There are many things for the children that are still needed such as additional food, household supplies, and school equipment. The organization has asked if we can send some old clothes for these children, whose ages are between eight and fifteen years old.
 Another project this organization is working on is to help women and girls who have escaped from situations where they were suffering from abuse, so they can start new lives and have some kind of job.  The Foundation for Women suggested that if we have old clothes to send to them, they can go and sell old clothes in the markets, to earn money for living.  If you would like to help and get rid of your old clothes at the same time, that may benefit many people in need. Please keep in mind that since shipping costs are about 8,000 yen per 20 kgs, a generous donation for these costs would be appreciated.

HOME VISITの経験を生かした文化交流
　ECIEA でhome stay やhome visit の経験をして東京に住むようになってから５年くらい経って、日本FOLK DANCE連盟の行事で、ブルガリア人を妻に持つ石坂さんと知り合いになりました。妻のヌーシャさんは、日本に住んで１０年。ブルガリアの民族舞踊の普及に努めています。　国際交流が話題になり、杉並区高井戸の佐々木宅へ、「初夏の昼食と抹茶のおもてなし、ブルガリアダンスの集い」と言うことでお招きしました。東京に住んで個人の家庭に招かれたのは初めてと、日本食や抹茶を楽しんでいました。
　今年は、愛-地球博のブルガリア・デイにも参加しています。民族舞踊を通じてお互いの文化を理解し合い、次の世代にも交流の輪と平和の気持ちを伝えて行きたいものです。（佐々木　洋子さん）
 

Cultural Exchange through Homestay

After I had experienced being a homestay host through the ECIEA, I moved to Tokyo five years ago and then became acquainted with Mr. Ishizaka. Mr. Ishizaka is married to a Bulgarian woman. The Ishizakas have been in Japan for 10 years and have popularized Bulgarian dance. I invited them to my home and we enjoyed Japanese food and green tea. And we also talked about dancing.

This year the Ishizakas are participating in the Bulgarian Day in the Aichi World Expo. I’d like to better understand many cultures and share the concepts of peace and global friendship with the next generation. (Ms. Yoko Sasaki)

We will charter a bus to visit the Asahiyama Zoo. The Asahiyama Zoo is now one of the best zoos in Japan. Let's go enjoy together. The seats are limited and we will accept in the order of arrival.

フリーマーケット参加しました

キャンドルナイトで売れ残ったバザー品を、７月２3日に江別市役所駐車場で行われたフリーマーケットに出品しました。飛ぶような売れ行きで、売上金は、１０，０２２円でした。お手伝いの皆様、お疲れ様でした。（宮崎紀恵さん）

7月9日発信の「メーリングリスト安全管理対策について」を読んで

　ある会員より「もっと責任を持って管理していただきたい」という要望が文頭にあり、それについて、ウイルス対策や迷惑メール及び装飾文字等の技術面での対処の仕方が述べられていました。前段の経緯は良く知りませんが、おそらく質問者も技術面の問題を提起していたのだと思います。

　私は、ややもするとおろそかにされがちなECIEAのMLの倫理面での質の確保について述べてみたいと思います。

　MLの技術面では「管理」という言葉は必要かもしれませんが、倫理面での質の確保については「管理」という言葉も、また「管理者」という立場の人もないのです。

　「それでは歯止めが利かなくなってしまう」というかもしれませんが、外からの力では歯止めは利かないのです。参加者個人の倫理観に期待するほかありません。

　もし、特定の人がMLを仕切るようになったり、ルールを無視するようになったら、そのMLは魅力を失い、やがて消滅へと向かうのです。そこで私は、ECIEAのMLの参加者にルールとして次のことを守るようお願いしたい。

１　発信者は多数の人が読んでいることを認識する。

２　読み手に気配りする。

３　一方的または感情的な議論は避ける。

４　なごやかな交流の場とする。

５　個人的な問題は個人間のメールで行う。

　このレベルのエチケットがお互いに守られてはじめてECIEAのMLも存続可能であり、もしそうでなかったらMLへの参加者は激減するのではないかと危惧しております。
