歩くスキーで雪とたわむる

2月11日、恒例の「歩くスキーの集い」をしました。今年は参加人数11名と例年より少なめでした。

　香港からの語学留学生3人が参加。ティティ、リリアン、エリ3人は背も高くかなりの美形。うち二人はゲレンデスキ

ーの経験があり、かなりすんなりコースを進みました。

　今年は記念塔へ抜けるコースをとり、ウサギの足跡など森の雰囲気を楽しんだあとは、抜けるような青空の下、手稲

山や札幌ドームが視界に広がる高台に出ておもわず歓声。最後はスキーをぬいで、しばらく雪の上で天使の人型を作

ったり転げ回ったりして、幼児のように雪とたわむれていた3人でした。（宮武　玲子さん）

Cross Country Ski Gathering Report

We had the annual Cross Country Ski Gathering on February 11, and 11 people participated in it.  

Three cute girls from Hong Kong, who go to language schools in Sapporo, joined us.  They moved on almost 

without any trouble because two of them had downhill-skied before.  While skiing along the course toward the 

tower of the 100th anniversary of the founding of Hokkaido, we enjoyed seeing footprints of animals in the woods.  

We cheered when we reached a hill, from which Mt. Teine and Sapporo Dome came into our line of sight against 

the clear sky.  At the goal, the three girls from Hong Kong took off their skis and played in the snow like children, 

making snow angels and rolling around in the snow.    (Ms. Reiko Miyatake)

スノーカーニバルにボランティアとして参加

　良いお天気にもめぐまれ多くの国の方々に参加していただいて、ボランティアとして参加してよかったなぁと思います。電動もち

つき機３台で午前中からお雑煮に入れるもちをみなさんとまるめて、お雑煮の用意。やさいを切って味見をしながら作りましたが、

本当におぞうには、各家庭で入れるものが違うのだなぁと感じました。外国の料理もいろいろありますが、日本国内でも地方地方

でずいぶんちがうものですね。

私は用事があったので前半しか参加できませんでしたが、気軽にボランティアできるのがエシアの良い所だとつくづくおもいま

した。みなさんも自分のスケジュールにあわせて、気軽に参加してください。ボランティアって楽しいですよ。　　（村谷文代さん）

Volunteer Experience at Snow Carnival

It's fortunate that we had good weather and a lot of attendees from many countries.  I was happy as a volunteer staff.  

With three automated rice-cake-making machines, we prepared “Ozoni (hot soup with rice cake).”

While cutting vegetables and tasting with other staff, I found that everyone had their own recipe.  Though there are 

many kinds of meals in foreign countries, even in Japan meals vary from one locality to another.  Unfortunately, I had 

to leave in the middle of the event.  I think it’s a good thing about ECIEA that people can join with a light heart if you 

don't have enough time.  I hope you will join our events when you have time. Working as a volunteer is quite fun!

Attending Cross-country skiing and Snow Carnival

Thank you for inviting us to the events.  It was a quite pleasant time for us for the first time in quite some time.  

Trying cross-country skiing, making rice-cake and baked-sweet potato made a good memory.  We really appreciate

講演会報告

「ボツワナ奮闘記」

〜象とブッシュマンの国での栄養指導〜

時；３月１１日(土)２時から３時３０分

講師；氏家　真梨さん

　JICAの青年海外協力隊で南米のボツワナに派遣された病院栄養士氏家真梨さんがその活動を、分りやすい画像や

写真にさわやかな解説を添えて報告して下さいました。ここ江別から環境の大きく異なるボツワナに行き、「食は文化なり」

という大きな壁にぶつかりながらも前向きに、積極的に孤軍奮闘した一人の若い女性の２年間の様子は参加者の興味を

引くのに十分過ぎるほどでした。日本にいては考えられない日常生活の非健康的な状態や、エイズ人口が３５パーセント、

平均寿命４０歳以下という中で、病院から飛び出して木の下で栄養相談をしたり、家庭訪問をしたりと彼女なりのさまざまな

取り組みが紹介されました。現地では日本人も栄養士も初めてと言うことで居場所がなかったと感じられた氏家さんが、月

日を重ねてできることを増やしていき地元に受けいれられたのは、強い目的意識と確かな知識、行動力があったからでしょう。

会場にはボツワナから持ち帰ったさまざまな郷土品が色とりどりに飾られ、話の中に出てきた主食になる穀類や、陶器、

手芸作品、民族衣装などを手にとって見ることができました。

また休憩時間にはアフリカ名産のルイボスティーでのどを潤しました。講演後はたくさんの質問が上がり、１件ずつ丁寧に

答えてくださいました。まだまだ問題が山積する中で現状を的確に捉え自分のポジションを意識して行動してきた氏家さんに

聴衆から暖かな拍手が起こり無事終了しました。（太田　佳美さん）

Report on the Lecture “Experiences in Botswana”

On March 11th, Ms. Ujiie talked about her experiences in Botswana, where she worked as a dietician.  Ms. Ujiie was 

dispatched to Botswana by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).  With pictures and statistics and precise

comments, her vivid portrayal of two years in Botswana was enough to attract an audience.  One cultural difference she 

mentioned was that people in Botswana believe that "eating a lot is good."  She had great difficulty in educating local people.

While Botswana has many concerns, such as unhealthy dietary habits, high population of AIDS patients (35%), and low 

average life span (under 40 years), she struggled to make the conditions better.

She didn’t stay in hospital, sometimes visited people in their houses, and even gave a dietary consultation under a tree!  

She was the first dietician Botswana had.  So, at first she felt there was no room for her. But she was gradually accepted by 

local people.  I think it’s because she had an explicit purpose, vast knowledge, and energy.  While there were many 

problems to solve in Botswana, she knew precisely the real situation and acted according to what she could do for people

まちづくりフォーラム報告

2月25日(土)、野幌公民館で恊働ネットワーク主催による「まちづくりフォーラム」が開催されました。市長挨拶の後、恵庭市

の町内会長さんによる自らの町内会活動を通しての体験談や”まちづくり”についての講演があり、その中で町内会の役員のな

り手がいないと切実に現状を訴えていました。

　その後、まちづくり支援事業の事例報告として子育てや食生活改善等の発表があり、続いてのパネルデイスカッションでは恊働

の定義、NPOと自治体の役割分担などが討議されました。市長の挨拶にも市民活動の場の必要性と具体的な候補地が述べられ

ていましたが、会場での配布資料によると旧野幌消防署を市民活動センターにする案が有力のようです。

　多数の一般市民の参加もあり、江別市のまちづくり運動への関心の深さが感じられました。 (伊藤　祐輔さん)

"Machi Tsukuri" (Making Comfortable City) Forum

On Feb. 25th (Sat) at Nopporo Kominkan, "Machi Tsukuri" Forum, that was promoted by Kyodo Network, was held.  

After the opening statement by the mayor of Ebetsu, a lecture was given by the mayor of Eniwa.  It was about his 

experience on the activities of his neighborhood association.

It seems to be getting harder to find replacements of the association's staff.  As a case study, parenting and eating 

habits were presented by the members.  During the panel discussion, the definition of "Kyodo" and the division of roles 

between NPO and autonomy were discussed.  Our mayor expressed the necessity to create the place for citizen's 

activities.  Former Nopporo Fire Station seems to be top-rated for the Citizen's Activity Center.  Many people took part 

in this forum.  I feel many citizens have interest in "Machi Tsukuri " campaign in Ebetsu.     (Mr. Yusuke Ito)

ホームステイあらかると　Home Stay a la Carte

ホームステイと私の誕生日

ホームステイをしてとても嬉しい事が２年続きました。私の誕生日が２回もホームステイの日と重なったからです。

　１昨年６月。韓国の東国大学の男子学生さん２人を預かり、同じく女子学生１人がホームステイしていた小田部さんのお宅で

合同のホームパーティーをしました。私が忘れ物を取りに帰った間に皆で相談したらしく、私が部屋に戻った途端にギターとピア

ノ伴奏付きの「ハッピーバスディー」の大合唱！

　昨年６月。カナダのモントリオール大学に留学中のフランス人学生が来た時も誕生日。大川さん宅にホームステイ中のカナダ

人学生、私の知り合いの韓国人留学生２人も加わり、今度はバーベキューパーティです。慣れない手つきで彼らも一緒におにぎ

りを握りました。賑やかな誕生日は嬉しいもの。

　さて、今年の誕生日はどうかしら？年を取るのが楽しみになったホームステイ体験記でした。（園部　亜佐子さん）

Host Family and My Birthday

Being a host family brought me happiness on my birthday for the second year in a row.  Two years ago in June, my 

birthday month, I hosted two male guests from Dongguk University in Korea.  During that time we had a party with Ms. 

Kotabe and her homestay guest, a girl also from Dongguk University.  They all sang happy birthday to me along with

 accompaniments on piano and guitar.  

Last year, I also had a French guest from Montreal University on my birthday.  We had a barbeque party with Canadian 

students who were staying with Ms. Okawa and two Korean students.  We made "onigiri" together.  This lively 

atmosphere, two years in a row, made me happy and my birthdays extra special.

So what will happen on my birthday this year?   (Ms. Asako Sonobe)

我が家に留学生を招いて

　知り合って３年くらいになるかしら、彼女は４３歳くらい。よく研究に疲れるとリラックスしたいと、美味しいものを食べに行ったり、

温泉やショッピングに付き合ったりしていた。私は彼女のアパートに引越しの手伝いがてら２度ほど泊まったことがあり、ようやく

我が家に遊びに来てくれることになった。私のお煮つけが食べたいと、ご主人がインドネシアから来た時も、彼女の家に遊びに

行く時も、ピクニックに行く時も、その煮つけが良いと言う。

この度もそれが食べたいと言うので作って待っていた。もう一人のインドネシアの奥さんと泊まるのかと思い、３日かけて部屋

も掃除し、模様替えをしたり、忙しく料理の内容もあれやこれやと、此の時とばかりにご馳走しようと考えていたのに、当日来た

には来たのですが泊まらず帰って行った。（勉強に忙しいらしい・・・・）（横山佳子さん）

Hosting Foreign Students at My Home

How long have we been friends?  Maybe for three years?  My Indonesian friend seems to be in her mid-forties.  

When she tires of studying, we get together and shop, visit hot springs and eat out in order to ease her fatigue.

  We spent a lot of time together during her move and I even slept at her apartment.  Since then, we've been close 

friends. She has dropped by my house many times.  She loves my vegetables cooked with soy sauce, and asks me to cook 

them whenever we meet.  

When her husband came to Japan, we went on a picnic together, and so on. The other day she came to my house 

with another Indonesian woman.  I thought she would spend the night, and tidied up the guest room.  I prepared food 

to welcome them.  She came to my house with her friend, but didn't stay.   (Ms. Yoshiko Yokoyama)

トリノオリンピック道中記

　40年来の友の娘さん田畑真紀さんがスピードスケート日本代表に選ばれたので、その応援にトリノに行ってきました。到着した

時には、新春の陽気でたくさんの水仙が咲き、雪はありませんでした。トリノは自動車フィアットの町、そしてチョコレート発祥の地

です。17世紀には都市整備と建築活動が進み、イタリアン・バロック様式の美しい町並みが今も残っています。

初めてのオリンピック観戦では、大舞台で滑る彼女を真近に見て、20年以上もスケート一筋に「継続は力なり」とばかりにがんばってき

た努力を本当にすばらしいと思い、たくさんの感動を肌と心に吸収できました。

　トリノには8泊しましたが、大きなアパートを一軒借り、田畑家6人と真紀ちゃんお抱えのカリスマシェフ三浦さんと私の8人で滞在しまし

た。すばらしいことに、三浦シェフは私たち大家族の一日三食も料理してくださいました。新鮮な食材を市場で選び、どんなリクエストにも応

えてくれるのでした。毎日がヴォーノ（おいしい）、ヴォーノ！

　レースのない日は、オリンピック開催中に発売されたバス・トラム一日乗り放題券（0.9ユーロ、約120円）を利用して、美しい町

並みを散策したり月〜土曜に立つ市場に通ったりしました。

　真紀ちゃんは残念ながらメダルには届きませんでしたが、最終レース後のお食事会では、「おめでとう。ご苦労様。」と伝えました。

そして「バンクーバーが待っているよ。」と。

Olympic Tour around Turin

We went on a journey to Turin, Italy to cheer on Ms. Maki Tabata, a member of the Japanese delegation to the Winter 

Olympics.  She is the daughter of my close friend (we've been friends for 40 years).

When we arrived, the weather was warm.  Daffodils were in bloom and the snow had almost melted.  Turin is an 

industrial city, the world famous carmaker, Fiat, at its core.  What's more, it is the cradle of chocolate.  During the 17th 

century, the city developed its urban structure. We could fully appreciate the beautiful Italian Baroque style.

It was my first time supporting an Olympic athlete.  Maki performed beautifully in the magnificent skating arena.  She 

has been striving for 20 years against difficulties, with her motto, "Continuity gives us power".

It was impressive, and I was deeply moved by her performance. We stayed eight nights in Turin.  We rented a large 

apartment house, with eight total guests.  I stayed with the Tabata family and Mr. Miura (chef). Mr. Miura served us kindly 

every evening meals with fresh ingredients.  Buono (Delicious) !

We saw the wonderful sights of Turin.  For 0.9 Euro (120 yen), we purchased the very useful one-day ticket.  We were 

fully satisfied with beautiful scenes along the streets or markets.  Regrettably, Maki did not capture an Olympic medal in Turin. 

While I consoled her, I tried to buoy her spirits by saying, "Vancouver will surely be waiting!"  Olympics, Maki-chan, cheers and

オイスカ植林ツアーに参加して

　３月２日から１１日までオイスカの植林ツアーでフィリピンに行ってきました。首都マニラのあるルソン島の北部アブラ州に北海道

支部の支援で設立した研修センターの１５周年式典に参加することが今回の目的でした。

１．交通：市民の交通手段は150ccのバイクにサイドカーをつけたものが多く、次にジプニーと言われる１０人から２０人乗りの小型

バスと、大型バスです。自転車はほとんど見かけません。自家用車は一部の裕福な人が乗っています。地方では馬車もありました。

観光客、市民が利用しています。私も乗りました。

２．気候：３月からは一番気温の上がる時期で、私が体験した気温は最高３７度した。でも研修センターのあるところでは夜は涼しく

冷房は切っていました。

３．食べ物：ご飯がメインで、あとは魚、肉、野菜を茹でたもの、油で揚げたものが多いようです。大きな皿に色々なものを乗せフォ

ークとスプーンで食べます。手で食べてもＯＫです。果物はマンゴ、バナナ、パパイア等美味しいものを沢山食べました。

４．治安：３日にマニラは戒厳令が解除されたようですが、私たちは全く不安を感じませんでした。ただ、アブラ州の知事との行事の

時には私服の警護、軍隊、警察、スワットの総勢１００人以上が警備していました。（山岸　肇さん）

OISCA PhilippinesTour                                                                     

From March 2nd through to 11th, I was in the Philippines to attend a tree planting project and the 15th anniversary 

ceremony of the Abra Agro-Forestry Training Center of the Organization for Industrial, Spritual and Cultual 

Advancement-International (OISCA), which is in the northern part of Luzon Island.  The center was founded by support of

OISCA Hokkaido branch.

Here are some tidbits of life in the Philippines: 

(1)  Transportation:  Citizens mainly use motorbikes with a sidecar, middle-sized buses called "Jeepny," converted from 

Jeeps, and large buses.  Bikes are seldom seen.  Tourists use carriages.  I tried it.  Affluent citizens use their own cars.

(2) Climate:  It is quite warm in March. The highest temperature I experienced was 37℃ degrees. In Abra, the evenings were

much cooler.  No air conditioner was needed at night.

(3) Food:  People have rice, fish, meat, boiled and fried vegetables.  They were served on a big plate for each. We ate 

them by forks and spoons, or hands. I also enjoyed delicious fruits. Mangos, bananas, papayas were fantastic.

(4) Security: Martial law was lifted on March 3rd.  We didn't feel unsafe at all, but more than 100 guards, soldiers, police

 officers and SWAT were positioned at the ceremony in the presence of the Governor of the State of Abra.

新春ボーリング大会報告　参加人数50名。収支79238円の支出。

歩くスキーは10名程度の参加申し込みあり。

ボツワナの講演会はポスター等で外部に宣伝する。講師料5,000円。

●国際交流推進協議会より

「冬を楽しもう」エシアは雑煮担当。お手伝い募集中。集合9時半。前日より学生が中心になって雪像づくりが始まる。

●協働ネットワークより

2月中にNPO法人として申請予定。名前は「えべつ協働ねっとわーく」と決定。

●総会(4／23)について

3月末までに各部役員は決算を会計係に、事業報告を事務局に提出のこと。人事について。会長副会長を3月末までに決めたい。

●その他

会長より：将来的に市町村合併で他市町村の国際交流団体と合併が予想される。その時、江別がリーダーシップをとれるような

体勢にしたい。

他の意見：公的資金が入っているわけではないまったくのボランティア組織なので、そこまで考える必要はないのではないか。

あくまでどうしたらエシアが活性化するかという問題のほうが優先だと思う。
