キャンドルナイトコンサートGuitar Knight Candle Night を終えて

（６月２１日実施）

　また彼のCDを聞きながら改めてキャンドルナイトコンサートの余韻を楽しんでいます。素敵でしたね〜〜！久しく忘れていた心躍る感じ、私達がとてもきれいだったころ（見た目ではなく・・・）を思い出させてくれた素敵な一時でした。

　クラッシックが似合うお年頃の私達ですが、敢えて笹木勇一郎君のコンサートをと持ちかけた私としても、うんとうなづけるコンサートになって嬉しく思っています。前半はアコースティックギターだけだったのに、１９歳の男の子にしては存在感がありましたね。さすがソニーの能力開発オーディションに中学生でシンガーソングライターとして選ばれ育てられてきたこと、そして大学生の今、全国デビューをし、初のアルバムを出したことに思い至りました。後半はパーカッションも入りまたまたバージョンアップし、惹き付けられたままコンサートは終わりました。

　今想い出してもアンテナショップの雰囲気と幻想的なキャンドルの光の中、あんなにキラキラとした若者のコンサートを私たちが開く事ができたことに、何ともいえない充足感、達成感を感じています。しかも定員４０名を大幅に越す６２名の大入りでした。

　そしてまたマネージャーとのやり取り、交渉、会計、会場作り、後片付けなどメンバーがそれぞれに阿吽の呼吸ででき、やっぱりエシアの仲間は素晴らしいと思いました。

　キャンドルの明かりで過ごした１時間余りのコンサート。世界のエネルギーに思いを馳せ、また収益金で微力ながらも世界の困っている人達の一助となれたことを嬉しく思っています。また来年もという思いを胸に皆で後片付けをし、残ったキャンドルをそれぞれ持ち帰りました。また来年もやりましょうね！！(北野　照代さん)

Guitar Knight Candle Night

  I'm still basking in the afterglow of the Candle Knight Concert on June 21st.  It was an awesome concert, wasn't it?  The musician, Yuichiro Sasaki, passed a Sony Music audition test when he was a junior high school student.  Now he is a university student.  This summer he arrived on the scene as a singer-songwriter.  You can get his first album at a CD shop.

  I can still remember the special night produced by the exquisite harmony between fantastic candle lights at the antenna shop and Mr. Sasaki's fascinating performance.  Sixty-two people were captivated by the acoustic guitar.  I derive great satisfaction from holding this event.  I'm also very proud of all of the members who went through a lot together on this event.

  This night meant a lot to us.  It was a time to save energy, to think about peace, and so on.  I'm also pleased that we donated the concert proceeds to a non-profit organization which supports refugees.

  Let's organize the special Candle Night event next year as well!  (Ms. Teruyo Kitano)

昨年先方の都合で開催できなかった国際高校生のつどいを6月24日に開催しました。

　当日は３０名の日本の高校生に、アメリカから来江中の高校生20名以上とその引率者、江別の高校に留学中の学生数名を加えた総勢60名近い人数が集い、楽しい時をすごしました。

　たくさんのおいしい差し入れやお手伝いをしてくださった皆様ありがとうございました。(浅見　恵津子さん)

  The Get Together Party returned this yearto the International Center on June 24th (ECIEA was not able to host the party last year).

  About thirty Japanese high school students welcomed and entertained more than twenty American high school students and their escorting staff.

　７月１５日「いこいのひろば」においてバーベキューパーティーが開催されました。天気予報では、雨が降るかもしれないとのことでしたが、最高のＢＢＱ日和でした。これも皆さんの日ごろの行いが良いからでしょう。参加者はベーハー大学の学生とホストファミリー、浅井学園大学からの韓国の留学生、ＡＥＴ、カナダへこれから行く酪農学園大生、小中学生、おばあちゃん、おじいちゃんとお孫さんたち４０名以上が食べて飲んで、語り合って楽しく過ごしました。食べ物はジンギスカン、海鮮類、片山さんから差し入れの牛肉と地ビール、会員からの差し入れおにぎり、漬物等でした。

　スイカ割りは人気があり２個使いました。割れ方もちょうど良く、粉々にはならず後で美味しくいただきました。横山さんのリードでの踊りで無事終了しました。

　場所の提供、差し入れをしてくださった片山さん、段取りをして下さった方々、当日の焼き係りの方、ありがとうございました。（山岸　肇さん）

  Barbeque party was held at Ikoino-hiroba on July 15.  More than forty participants, including exchange students from Canada and Korea, Assistant English Teachers, college students, school kids, elderly people and their grandchildren, enjoyed eating, drinking and lots of talking under the clear sky.

  Watermelon cracking game was so popular. We could hit two watermelons nicely enough to eat them up after the game.

  The party was finished after all members' dancing led by Ms. Yokoyama. Thank you for all your cooperation!

「サムローン村を訪れて」

　ワニダさんはライフワークとして出身地であるタイの東北部スリン県にあるサムローン村の子供達への就学支援活動をしています。私もこの「サムローン村の里子の会」で数年前から一人の男の子の支援をしています。５月のある日、ワニダが一緒に里子達に会いに行かないかと誘ってくれ、初めてタイの地を踏むことになりました。

　６月８日バンコクに着くと、現地はまさに国王の即位６０周年記念式典ムード一色。というのも国王の生まれた曜日の色が金色で、街行く人が皆黄色い服を着ていたからです。各家庭には必ずといっていいほど国王の写真が飾られており、多くの国民から敬愛されていることが伺われました。またサッカー好きというタイ国民待望のワールドカップ開催も重なり、開幕戦は国内の全テレビ局が生中継するという熱中ぶりに驚きました。

　タイに入り３日目、バンコクから９時間かけ夜行列車に乗り、カンボジアの国境沿いにあるスリン県へ。国連関連の機関でインターンとしてバンコクに滞在している太田さんのお嬢さん（陽子ちゃん）も一緒です。村は駅からさらに車で１時間ほど走ったところにあり、バンコクの喧騒とは違い、牛やにわとりがあちらこちらで歩いている長閑な場所です。現地では４日間で４０名以上の里子や支援を希望する子供達に会いました。多くがエイズで親を亡くしたり、経済的に貧しい子たちです。今まで会で支援した子の中には大学に進学した子や看護婦として自立した子もいれば、支援してもなかなか勉強に身の入らない子もいます。ワニダは子供達一人一人に会い、問題のある子たちにも丁寧に対応していました。

　また、今回は現地の病院のスタッフと一緒にエイズで苦しんでいる女性達も慰問しました。印象的だったのは同行していた２人の一般女性もまたエイズ患者（比較的症状が落ち着いている）で、同じ状況にある人の相談相手としてのボランティア活動をしていたことです。

　陽子ちゃんは今の仕事を通じてアジアの貧しい国々がいかに自立していけるか、彼女なりの視点で模索していました。私は今回の旅を通じて、自分自身がいかに恵まれた環境に身をおいているのかを気づかせてもらえました。これからもワニダの活動を支えることで、少しでも子供達の未来に明るい笑顔が増えるといいなと思います。

Visiting Samroong Village, Thailand

  Ms. Wanida, born in Samroong Village, devotes herself to improving school enrollment rates.  I too have been supporting a foster child in Samroong Village for a few years.  In May, I visited Thailand to meet my foster child with Ms. Wanida.

  In Bangkok, the whole city was celebrating the 60th anniversary of the king's succession to the throne.  People were wearing yellow, as it represents the King's birthday.  Almost all people showed their respect and affection for the king by displaying a photo of the king in their homes.

Thais love soccer so most TVs were featuring the World Cup live.

  After a nine-hour train ride, we met Ms. Yoko in Surin Province, along the Cambodian border.  Ms. Yoko is the daughter of (ECIEA's) Ms. Ota and an intern with a U.N. organization.  After an hour's drive we arrived in the village, a peaceful place with cattle and hens around.

  In four days we met 40 foster children and other registered children.  Many children had lost their parents to HIV.  Some foster children were university students and were now nurses.  But there were children who were poor at studies as well.  Ms. Wanida advised the problematic children gently though.

  We comforted female HIV patients along with hospital staff.  Two staff members were HIV positive but with mild symptoms.

  I found that Ms. Yoko struggled against the poverties of some Asian countries through her U.N. work.  And I realized through this journey that I'm favored with the circumstances in Japan.  I will continue to support Ms. Wanida's volunteer work and I hope that poor children in the world will be able to laugh more in the future.

北海道とインドネシアの子供たちの親交プログラムに参加して

　５月２４日インドネシアの子供たちにベラ・ローサ・コロの子供たちのチャリテイで教科書を買うお金を届けるボランティアとかつて留学生だった人たちに逢うための旅行を企画。

　今回大阪・仙台・札幌と１０年余り日本にいらしたハデさんとヌニンさんご夫妻が国にお帰りになると言うのでついて行き　挨拶と１０までの数字しか言えなく　それでも３週間ほどは居ました。

　１日目はムスクのお祈りの音で朝４時に起こされ　朝ごはんの前に　６時頃熱い紅茶とお菓子？（これは何処の家も同じ）がでました。２５日は海抜２０００ｍ位山の奥の小学校を訪問した　まわりは急勾配の段々畑しかありませんでした。２日目はハディさんのお父さんの家　トンパン町〈海抜７００m〉から車で１時間くらい山の上ドゥウェット村は人口１０００人子供は２００人位１００人の小学校に通う子供たちの教科書を買うお手伝いに行き　子供たちと親交を交わすために　私は折り紙教室をし遊佐道新販売所から戴いた鉛筆を配って来ました。

　ハディさんの出た小学校も見て　今は新しい学校を建てる計画があり　新しく建てるための土地も見てきました。

５００万円くらいで学校が建つそうで　何とかしてあげられないものかと考えてしまいました。

　着いた日は夜が遅かったので熱いシャワーが無いため水浴びは出来ず〈風邪をひくから〉そのまま寝た。

　お父さんのソレさんが懐かしい歌謡曲のメロディーを３日間聞かせてくれた　２日目は頭が少し重いと言うとお母さんのウミハナさんがマッサージをして上げたらと言いソレさんが３０分ほどしてくれて申し訳ない思いでした。

　３日目は３時に物凄い音楽ので起こされ１週間も続く結婚式の音でした　４時にはまたムスクからのお祈りの音（イスラム教だけ）他の宗教の人たちは？？？

　トイレ（水浴びも出来る）に紙は無く(皆どうしてるの？)朝から揚げ物ばかり　色々なテンペの料理を味わうことができた。生野菜と水には気をつけてと言われて　日本から持っていったペットボトルにお湯を入れ最後まで使った。ジョクジャカルタの地震にも　遭遇せず　知人の家々を　マラン(ジャワ島)・スラバヤ・ジャカルタ・ボゴール・バンドゥン・パランガラヤ(カリマンタン島)・スラバヤ・デンバサール（バリ島）と２３日間の旅でした。（横山　佳子さん）

Report on International Exchange Program Between Hokkaido and Indonesian Kids

  I left for Indonesia on May 5th to see friends who used to study in Japan and to deliver a donation to buy text books to Indonesian children.  The donation is proceeds from a charity concert, which was held by Bella Rosa Coro, a choir of children in Kitahiroshima.

  My Indonesian vocabulary is quite poor, but fortunately, I know an Indonesian couple, Hadi and Nuning, who had lived in Japan for about ten years and planned to go back to their home country. So I went with them.

  On my first day in Indonesia, I woke up at 4 in the morning with the sound of prayer from a mosque.  Then, I visited an elementary school in the heart of the nearby forest.

Around the school, there is nothing but farmland.

  On the second day, I drove from Tunpang town in which a house of Hadi's parents is located, to Duwet.  It took around one hour.  The population of Duwet is one thousand, including 200 children.  I helped to buy textbooks for 100 elementary school students and distributed them pencils, which were given by Yusa Doshin-Hanbaijo, a news dealer.

To communicate with the students, I taught them how to make Origami.  Then I was showed to an elementary school Hadi used to go.  I heard that it needs five million yen to build a school. I couldn't help wondering if I could do something about it.

  During my stay, Hadi's parents took very good care of me.  Soreh, Hadi's father, sang good old popular songs for me.  When I was sick with headache, Wumichanah, Hadi's mother, asked Soreh to gave me a massage.  I felt sorry for them and appreciated their help a lot.

  I took 23days to visit friends' houses in Malang, Jawa-island, Surabaya, Jakarta, Bogor, Bandung, and so on and it's fortunate that I wasn't there when the big earthquake occurred in Yogyakarat.  It was a good trip.

  Why don't you come to ECIEA in yukata on the Star Festival night in Hokkaido? We are decorating Tanabata bamboo trees and lanterns, enjoying fireworks, and dancing Bon Festival dance.  Let's invite your friends from overseas.  If you want to wear yukata (summer kimono), please notify us.  We will prepare one for you.

  We are looking for assistants to teach Children's Bon Dance, donate paper lanterns, supervise fireworks, decorate, dance.  Please contact Ms. Kasai or Ms. Yokoyama.

「みんなおいでよ！２００６江別‘世界市民’の集い」

　今年の集いは、１０月２２日(日)１２時より野幌公民館で行われる事になりました。ＥＣＩＥＡでは、実行委員として横山佳子さん、イベントの係として宮田さん（ホームステイ）が代表となりました。

　前日までの準備、当日のお手伝いなど、これから皆様にお手伝いいただくことがたくさんあると思いますので、よろしくお願いいたします。

2006 Ebetsu World Festival

   The annual Ebetsu World Festival will be held on Oct. 22nd (Sun) at Nopporo Kominkan.  Ms. Yokoyama has volunteered to chair this event.  Ms. Miyata will oversee the ECIEA's involvement.  We will need many volunteers to staff this exciting event.  Please consider joining a committee (or two) this year!

フリーマーケット参加のお知らせ

　今年もタイ難民支援のための資金集めとして、フリーマーケットに参加します。ご自宅にある不用品をご寄付ください。8月20〜26日の間江別国際センターの手前の物置をお借りできることになりましたので、そちらにお持ちください。持参物には「エシアフリマ用」などわかるように明記してください。持参できない場合はお問い合わせください。また、当日のお手伝いも募集します。半日でもけっこうです。ご連絡をお待ちします。

Flea Market on Aug. 27th

  We will have a shop at the flea market which will provide donations for those in need of assistance in Thailand.  We would like you to bring your recycled

/ gently used goods to the Ebetsu International Center from Aug. 20th to 26th.

Please indicate "For ECIEA" on a note on your items.  If you are unable to drop things off in person, please give us a call and we will assist as best we can.

  We are now actively recruiting staff volunteers to help with the sale of the goods.

Report on my experience in Ebetsu

  I came in Hokkaido only for three days.  That was not long enough; the region is beautiful and there is so much to see.  I love nature and mountains, so I really appreciated a stay in the North island of Japan.  It was a very nice break from Tokyo, where I’ve staying of the summer.  But I was a little unlucky, it was raining during those days. ざんねんですね

  With my homestay family, I visited Otaru,Sapporo, public bath and onsen, tasted local food and enjoyed local beer！  I am very thankful to Mr. and Ms. Ogasawara who made my stay very enjoying, they took care of me as their own child and I appreciated their help for improving my Japanese.

  I hope seeing them again, when I'll come back in Ebetsu, or when they'll come visiting Montreal.

  I had a great time in Hokkaido and I liked very much that part of Japan.  Because I only had a short stay, I wish to come back in the future.  Maybe for staying, maybe for working, or maybe just for the pleasure of traveling.  I still have mountains to climb！

江別での経験

私が北海道にいられたのはわずか３日間だけでした。時間は全然足りませんでしたが、景色はとても美しく、見るものも山ほどありました。私は自然や山が大好きなので、この北の島での日々は本当に楽しめたし、夏の東京で過ごす合間のいい骨休みになりました。ただ少し残念なのは、滞在中雨が続いたことです。

ホストファミリーの小笠原さんご夫婦と札幌や小樽を観光し、公衆浴場や温泉につかり、地元の名物を食べ、ビールも堪能しました！おかげでとても楽しく過ごすことができ、とても感謝しています。まるで本当の子供のように、よくしていただき、日本語が上手になるように手助けしていただきました。今度また江別に来る時か、お二人がモントリオールにいらした際などに、再会できたらと思います。

北海道では素晴らしい時を過ごせて、ここがとても気に入りました。今回は短い時間でしたので、いつかまたゆっくりと訪れたいと思います。その時はただの滞在になるか、仕事をするためか、それとも純粋に旅行を楽しむためになるかはわかりませんが・・・。まだまだ私にとってやることは山ほどあります！

ようこそ許先生（台湾）

　去る６月２日（金）、通翻部が招いて交流を深めたのは台湾国立高雄海洋科技大学で英語を教える許　世英（Stella）さん。許さんは同大学の国際交流推進も担当。台湾と日本、特に北海道との相互理解に意欲を持って来江しました。英国と米国で教育を受け、豊富な経験をもつ許さんは、通翻部が語るECIEAが重ねてきた市民国際交流の歩みに大きな関心を示していました。観光や若者交流を通じて深まる北海道・台湾の将来、話題は大きく広がり実に楽しい懇親ミーティングとなりました。（柳原　秀樹さん）

Taiwanese Ms. Hsu Welcomed Warmly to Ebetsu

  On June 2nd, Ms. Shih-Yjn Hsu visited ECIEA.  She is teaching English at Taiwan National Marine University.  She was welcomed by members of the Translation Committee.  She came with the aspiration for mutual understanding between Japan and Taiwan.  She had a keen interest in the methods of the ECIEA toward promoting international exchange.  Guest and host had lively conversation on the subject of how to promote sightseeing and youth's exchange....etc.  The topics ran from politics to food and the discussion was actually quite fruitful.

市民活動センターオープン

　「ＮＰＯ法人えべつ協働ねっとわーく」が道の許可を受け、正式発足しました。市民活動センターは旧消防署野幌出張所に９月２日オープンすることが決定し、運営は「ＮＰＯ法人えべつ協働ねっとわーく」が行います。２日と３日の両日オープンセレモニーが開催されます。フリマ、屋台での食べ物も予定されています。今後の活用、エシアとの協働が期待されます。（山岸　肇さん）

★先日、道立近代美術館で開催されている鑑真和上展を見てきました。日曜日とはいえ大変な混雑ぶりで、人気が伺えました。鑑真坐像は本当に素晴らしく、というよりも素晴らしいという形容自体がなにか安いもののように感じられる作品でした。20日まで開催されておりますので、興味のある方は是非！（笹田）
